Which download numbers are actually worth watching

A stats panel fills up with numbers quickly, but only a few of them change decisions.
1. Downloads per channel
The most direct one. Give each channel its own link and the comparison tells you where budget should go. Without channel split, total downloads is a comfort number.
2. Page views vs actual downloads
Visitors who open the page and do not download are conversion lost on the page itself. Three usual causes:
- The in-app browser handoff failed
- The file is large and the user gave up waiting
- The install instructions were unclear
When this ratio drops, look at the download page before spending more on acquisition.
3. Region and device mix
Region tells you whether CDN routing is worth configuring: if downloads cluster in one area, a local node pays for itself.
Device mix reflects your audience. A high share of recent Android versions suggests power users; a wide spread of models suggests broad reach.
4. Trends, not absolutes
A single day's download count means little on its own; the trend is what matters. A sudden drop usually means a dead link, a block, or a broken channel — worth investigating immediately.
In short
Channel split, conversion ratio, region and device mix, trend direction. Those four cover most day-to-day judgement; everything else is on demand.
